Mental Health Month

MHM

Since 1949, Mental Health America (MHA) has led the observance of May as Mental Health Month. While 1 in 5 people will experience a mental illness during their lifetime, everyone faces challenges in life that can impact their mental health. Because we understand that “There is No Health Without Mental Health”, AEAP is highlighting MHA’s 2020 theme, Tools2Thrive; practical tools focused on what individuals can do daily,  to  improve their mental health and increase resiliency regardless of their situation. Now, more than ever, we believe that these tools (even those that may need to be adapted for compliance with current CDC guidelines) will be particularly useful as we face the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.

One of the easiest tools anyone can use is taking a mental screening, Self -Assessments, when they need answers. It’s a quick, free, and private way for people to assess their mental health and recognize potential signs of mental health problems. This May, the AEAP (Arlington Employee Assistance Program) is also exploring topics that can help you build your own set of Tools2Thrive, including recognizing and owning your feelings, finding the positive after loss, connecting with others, eliminating toxic influences, creating healthy routines; and supporting others – all as ways to boost the mental health and general wellness of you and your loved ones.Learn more at www.mhanational.org/may. The AEAP has a variety of resources to support you.  We encourage you to invest in your health and well-being and support others.
