Employee Assistance Professional
Kathy Young has been with Arlington EAP since 1997. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, a Certified Employee Assistance Professional, and qualified to provide Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) evaluations in compliance with DOT regulations. Kathy served as the Coordinator for Arlington County Government’s EAP before its collaboration with Arlington Public Schools EAP. Previously she was the Administrator for the US Department of Justice EAP, US Attorney’s Office, serving 10,000 employees in 94 field offices as well as the DC headquarters. She is certified in Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) and has worked extensively with CISM teams and first responders. Kathy was uniquely recognized with an Assistant Attorney General Award for outstanding performance assisting the bombing victims in Oklahoma City. She was also actively involved in assisting individuals impacted by the terrorist attack on the Pentagon on 9/11. Kathy enjoys working with employees on wide variety of personal and professional issues including grief/loss, substance use concerns, and work stress. She also provides assistance to APS employees around workplace accommodations and medical issues. Kathy provides training on a wide range of topics and serves on various ACG and APS committees.
